Still Learning After All These Years!

So, now that I'm tracking with MFP, I'm learning some things.

Did you know that 8oz of black coffee actually has 2 calories? All these years I thought that coffee had no calories. My coffee mug holds 16 oz of coffee so there's 4 calories.

Add the tablespoon of creamer that I use and there's another 30 calories. Add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and there's another 45 calories.

So my morning cup of coffee has 79 calories! I can't do black coffee but what I can do is cut back on the creamer and the sugar to save a few calories!

I think this is why it's good to try something new every now and then.

Al, I got the info from the MFP database. Don't know why it came up as 2 for me and 0 for you.

I remember an old GOAD member who was drinking a few hundred calories worth of coffee per day! You may recall that he was having trouble losing weight.

When I started WW, I stopped putting milk/creamer into my coffee (though continued with Equal/Splenda). That was proof to me that you can get used to eating/drinking almost anything.

I remember that person too -- he made me a BEAUTIFUL pen that I still use :)

I've tried drinking coffee black -- if I have to drink it black, I'll stop drinking coffee LOL

Log as Black, add milk and sweetener, if you must.

    And..."Don't fruit the beer".

Yeah I was surprised a few years ago to find out there were a couple of calories in black coffee.
As they say "I didn't get fat consuming black coffee". Uh true.

Yeah and who knows maybe I might have upwards of 50 Kcal of black coffee by mornings end. Still shrugs shoulders at the thought and doesn't track it.
