Hi I was eating low carb / keto for over a year . The last few months I have gradually went back to eating carbs . As of today I'm trying to get back on plan . I constantly feel sick I'm sure it's due to the sugar it's frightening how addictive I have become with sugar I'm binge eating because of it . Looking for as many tips as possible as I so want to get back to eating low carb again . Thanks

For me, it was a simple as making up my mind to do it, and refusing to buy anything with more than a single net carb per serving. The only exception is my 100% cacao baker's bars, but I couldn't see myself eating more than a square of that per day, unless my life depended upon it.

Good for you on recognizing the need to get back to lower carb eating! Like with any addiction, you will have some withdrawals even if they are just mental. like @Gallowmere1984 said, you must make up your mind and remove as many temptations as you can. Get support from friends, family or this group by announcing your intention, that way you have some accountability. And lastly take it one day at a time! celebrate your good decisions, dust yourself off when you give into temptation and get back on the LC Wagon. You can do this!

I too have just returned to low carb eating myself. I was feeling really sick and tired when I was eating carbs and I knew I had to go back to eating low carb. It has been 4 days now and I feel much better. Scale is moving slowly but I am not bloated and feel healthier. The first few days are the hardest and I hate to go through that again so I try to remember that when I go off track. Because once those days past and start to feel great you don't want to go back to those days again. Keep up and know that better things are on the way. This group is amazing and so inspiring. Whenever I feel defeated I just pop open this message board and read everyone's stories and it really makes a difference.

The only way I've been able to do it so far is to save carbs for the end of the day, always eat them with protein/fat, only have a little bit of sugary something with that last meal, then no more calories that night.

@jmd543 - what's crazy is that this is actually what's recommended for anyone carb sensitive. Our body reacts best to carbs late in the day, so what's usually recommended is 1/6 of carbs at breakfast, 1/3 of them at lunch, and the other 1/2 of them at dinner. Try to use only veggie, meat, and dairy as carb sources, and it does get easier. Avoid real sugar if possible, and only sweeten other foods/drinks to tolerance, not to taste.

I'm sure you'll be going through carb withdrawals all over again, try not to worry about how much you're eating during your detox  and make sure you have plenty of your favorite low carb foods to snack on so you're not tempted to nibble on carby foods.

Up your sodium too. No sense in making your self feel worse and making it even harder to get started. :);)
