It happened. Week long vacation and I fell off, ...hard. Carb-palooza I called it. Pizza from here, pastries from there, beers, bagels, etc. ...it was a glorious mess.
I got in late last night and was afraid to weigh in. After being in ketosis since March 1st and 65 lbs down, 6 days couldn't hurt me that bad, could it?
Morning weigh-in. TEN EFFIN POUNDS!!! Are you kidding me?!? I shook my old man fist to the sky and suited up for a 5k. I listened to some CT Fletcher for motivation and reaffirmed my conviction. Back on the wagon I go. Time for a big bowl of stfu and tcb.
Moral: thinking of cheating on lchf? she'll punch you in the gut.

I love CT Fletcher, for two reasons. One, he's CT Fletcher. Two: he's a survivor of what happens when natural athletes think that they can eat their way into competing with gearheads. Dude almost killed himself with calories. Anabolics don't do half the damage for the same results, and he had to learn that the hard way. I admire him for all of it.0

I gained 6 pounds on a recent vacation, the good news is it came off really fast once I got back on the wagon. Odds are it was a lot of water gain from the carbs, no doubt that is what you are experiencing too.0

I went on a 9 day vacation last fall (first one longer than a long weekend in 8 years... downside to self employment!) and went hog wild, was eating wheat (which I'm very allergic to) and came home to a 20 lb gain. I laughed (ha ha ha) and told myself it was just water retention... no WAY that was real weight... well it was... It's taken me 10 weeks on keto to lose 17 of those 20 lbs... UGH!! I agree it's SO not worth it!!0

I put on 4 on my vacation and I stayed 100% Keto. But I drank alcohol every single day...0

I'm slowly learning and am in the "so not worth it" crowd. Since I eat KETO forof a neurological disorder (google Dystonia), when I carb out I not only gain weight, I once again start feeling like Linda Blair in The Exorcist. As if someone is trying to rip my head of my shoulders.
Live and learn, don't we? You'll get it off!0 -
Honestly, I'm an adult and knew full well what I was doing was bad. It just felt wrong. ...naughty even, which might have been part of the appeal. I think I secretly hoped that I could eat like that and not gain. Ha! Reality check buddy!
Water weight or not, it was a learning experience. I'll defer to the law of averages in the loooong run and I'm confident that I'll get those lb's back. Discipline and drive, right?
Thanks for the encouraging words folks.1 -
I fell off the wagon this week and I leave for vacation tomorrow.0

I had all gods intentions this past vac to stay on track but before I knew it I was drinking one beer and then some pretzels and then I figured what the heck I already off track might as well go all wild and I did.... I enjoyed it at the time but boy did I feel like total crap after a week I was so tired bloated my ankles swelled and my joints were killing me.... I gained 10 lbs I was so mad at myself. I went right back on plan next am and I feel so much better!!! It's amazing. I did slip and have popcorn and soda at movies but other than that stated on point!1

I gained 6 lbs over 4 days when I traveled. My parents didn't serve a lot of LCHF options and at my Uncle's funeral there were brownies and cinnamon buns.
Weight was gone a week later but now I'm facing a bit of a stall. Not sure if carb creep or water retention from other sources but my fingers are puffy so it's definitely water weight.0 -
Same here but it wasn't my vacation it was my parents. They came for a 3 week visit, and I fell off the wagon -a bit- and put on 6 pounds.
I am struggling to get back to normal eating though.
I've lost 50 pounds by being low carb for 16 months and gave up sugar 2 years ago. Now I keep "forgetting" for a second or two, few times a day. Slippery slope back to obesity.0
