Today is day 30 for me. Or at least it would have been had I not flubbed up last night *sigh* tension, frustration, tired, all = cookies. Hershey's kisses. Spoonful of potatoes. More kisses. Even while cramming in my mouth was thinking "you have been song so good WHAT are you eating this for". Went to bed feeling dumpy and mad at myself. And today. Glum. Putting the big girl panties on and getting back at it. But wondering if anyone has a tip or two for the day after

Just get back on track, remember what derailed you yesterday so you can avoid that in the future and drink lots of water. Just don't check in with the scale! One day will not be a problem as long as you regain your focus and don't dwell on one bad day. We all have them.

Yup. Best thing is to KCKO. Keep Calm and Keto On. Or KCLCO (Keep Calm and LC On) if that's your WOE.
Some will say, fast part of the day. Some will say, do some intense HIIT to burn out those carbs quicker. Some will say do both.
I say, "No guilt. But no excuses." You're human. Humans screw up. Learn from it, but it's over. Move forward. When we fall off the wagon, do we lay there and wallow in the mud while both sets of axles run us over? Nope. We immediately get up, dust ourselves off, and climb back on. The water weight and yuck feeling will pass in a few days, and you'll be fine.9 -
I've had plenty of those days in June/July and while I gained weight, I'd just go back on track the next day to attempt to balance it out. I ended up in maintenance which wasn't so bad. We were moving and it was extremely stressful so we'd end up exhausted, stressed out and couldn't cook so we'd end up with take out. Everyone has these moments, just go back to your WOE and continue on like others have said.3

My husband and I were discussing this last week. I hate the term "cheat day"- it makes it automatically seem like something you should feel guilty for. Last week he had what we are now calling a "splurge day." And to be honest it slowed progress, but he was able to move on without the "I just blew my diet" guilt.
Everyday is full of new opportunities to improve.
You've got this!5 -
Slip-ups are going to happen. It is normal, and it is OK.
I think the folks that say they've never fallen off the wagon or been tempted in the past 73 years of their perfect dieting are super human (or more likely, full of it) On the bell curve of "dieters", they are the 1%'ers.
Most of us ARE going to fall of the wagon at some point. Reasons may vary - a rare exceptional food, vacations, illness, life craziness, my friend buys a rounds of cosmos during GNO, poor planning (learn from this one), you can't break your Italian grandmothers heart and turn down her cannoli, a craving that you cannot shake after denying it for a period of time, your refrigerator dies and all your food spoils, whatever... DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP!!!! For MOST of us - we WILL slip up.
I think if you look as slip-ups/cheats/whatever you want to call it as part of the process - part of it being a WOE and not some moral shortcoming or fatal character flaw - you will do a lot better. Also, I can have a bad meal and still have a good day. Don't eat the pasta and then say screw it bring on the dessert and margaritas.
As a generalization... a month has 30 days and 3 meals per day. That's 90 meals. Let's say I screw up/cheat meal/whatever you want to call it one meal per week... That means I was on plan 95% of the time. That's pretty awesome. I know if I keep that A-average - that ~95% average I am going to do just fine with my weight loss goals.
I love what @baconslave said above "no guilt, but no excuses"6 -
Since you have received plenty of support, allow me to be the contrarian. I think unplanned splurges are a symptom of something in your WOE that isn't satisfying you. It's like when we weigh ourselves...it is not an indication of what you did, it is a measurement that informs how you will act tomorrow. Use unplanned splurges as a learning opportunity to look through your WOE and determine what is missing. Perhaps you need more variety and you are bored with the "go to" meals you always eat. Fix it! Get some new recipes that fit your WOE and have a fun cooking weekend. Maybe you need to "bulk up" with good foods that fit your WOE before you head out into temptation at a party or other gathering. You know the old saying, "Never grocery shop when you're hungry". Just my 2 pennies. Best to you.6

Penance ... just don't eat for a spell.
(In other words, try intermittent fasting sooner rather than later.)3 -
Thanks to all!! I have been doing some intermittent fasting anyway so just begun today like I had been. Was busy all morning then turned around it was 1:30 pm and I thought no wonder I'm a little hungry. Ha. Have done so good today and tomorrow is looking to be another busy one so that's good2
