It's pretty tough trying to stick to keto and being vegan as the vegan diet by definition tends to be very high in carbs, but I've been making a lot of seitan-based recipes (from vital wheat gluten) which is very high in protein.
Just wondered if there was anyone else about and how you dealt with keeping your fat macros up, and your carbs down to around 15 as that's what I'm struggling most with.
I've resorted to tea with XCT Oil in the mornings to get fat up, but really battling with keeping carbs under 25/30 - they're everywhere!!

There was a thread for vegetarian keto resources. I don't think it's recommended to keep carbs that low when vegan keto though.

I am a vegetarian LC, with success..and saw an article we ( and Vegans) must stick to higher carbs (from veggies) to get nutrition...I have no problem dumping butter on everything, so you have an issue and it might be you have to accept some carbs, <40 to help yourself. It may be slightly slower loss for you, but being too rigid may not be the path to follow. OTOH I do take "essential amino acids" for replacement of meat and higher protein foods to protect kidney function, it works for me, but they are costly..I can enjoy an 80 even 85% fats diet and lose, get the nutrition I need..good luck in deciding.

@lodro follows a Vegetarian protocol, if I recall...

And I think there was advice that when incorporating vegetarian/vegan and ketogenic plans together that you need to use NET carbs, subtracting only fiber, to allow for more veggies while staying low carb and high fat. The principle of 20 grams total is generally considered to be intended as a type of induction, with the goal for most folks to be able to each as many carbs as they can and eat as many calories as you can and still lose weight consistently. Most of the major folks have recommendations for finding one's own carb threshold and such...

also has many dairy-free, grain-free, etc. recipes, including some vegetarian and vegan recipes, too. She's not the end-all, be-all, but I love her recommendations and podcasts for new things to try.

I am a new start to Keto, being vegetarian is tough. My net carbs are less than 35 most days some days close to 40. I have lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks so far. I have set a personal goal to lose weight slow and steady. Drinking coffee with half and half, including macadamia nuts daily has been helpful in increasing fat. Eggs are my main source of protein. I also eat cottage cheese and some lentils/legumes.

I'd LOVE to be vegetarian, or pescetarian at a minimum at some point... I was veg till I was 8 yo, then again for three years in my early 30's and my body thrives on a veg diet. I found this keto vegetarian YT channel you might find interesting... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIhtdk44pqKAxsHFXeTBojw

The r/keto reddit has lots of info for vegan ketoers. You will have a higher carb count because you're relying mostly on veggies, however nuts, seeds and oils will take you far. :)

Hey - I was mostly vegan for 2.5 years - then became interested in a Keto WOE. I introduced eggs and dairy (cheese) back into my diet before starting. I do not eat tofu or seiten - just have never liked it. I am in my 7th week and. am doing fine. Keto stix registering ketones, I am satiated and losing. I have been able to keep total carbs under 30 grams and net carbs under 20. Totally doable - there is tons of info on the Internet for vegetarian Keto - Jimmy Moores cookbook, gives a sample week for vegetarians!, good luck!!

I don't eat meat but do eat dairy and it isn't too difficult. It just takes a month or so to figure it out. I think as a vegan you just need to set your carb macro a little higher and count NET, not total carbs, that's what I do and it's been working very well. If you like coconut and avocado, that will help quite a bit with your fat. Most of the health food stores carry powdered vegan protein you can add to smoothies and other foods.

These links might help. Pinterest has a lot of recipes too.

Try this link of a vegan search on her videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIhtdk44pqKAxsHFXeTBojw/search?query=vegan
Though I see that there are some videos in which she talks about why she's anti-vegan now.
Since this thread was posted, she's been tweaking a lot. And the latest is adding dairy and going crazy over it. I haven't watched her vegan videos so I don't know how great they are or not. View at your own discretion.
