So are there any type of fats to avoid? I love beef and eat a 85/15 cut and also chicken and pork chop. I also eat Avocados and some nuts. I also use coconut oil to cook everything. Can yall give me some ideas on what to avoid if I'm making a mistake?

    Hi Abram
I eat everything you mentioned above except for me, no nuts and no coconut.
You really just need to decide how many carbs per day work for you and then stay within that range.
At first the connection many ppl don't get is how to keep the "HF" part in place. For me adding heavy cream and Kerry Gold Irish butter into coffee or tea is quite good.
I also eat pickles and use Pink Himalayan Salt on food, quite a bit of that and drinking chicken or beef both (boullion) makes a nice snack.

    Welcome to the fold @Abram86.

Vegetable fats/oils are on the avoid list. I would never worry about the fat ratio on a meat. Nuts are middle of the row things macadamias, pecans and almonds are on the lower carb side, walnuts too. Here's a site with a breakdown. Remember when you are counting/watching your carbs you can subtract the fiber.

What are your goals? What are you trying to accomplish with low carb eating?

I;m another of the opinion that most fats are good except for man made trans fats. I also limit my vegetable oils by never cooking or baking with them.

I cook most with coconut oil, butter and lard. I'll add olive oil or avocado oil to some foods but generally don't cook with them.

I LOVE nuts and avocado. The only problem with those is that I can overeat them too easily. LOL
