Haha, I am pretty much in shock, I really didn't expect to have anything show up in my blood after the week I've had. But my KetoStix stopped showing anything and since I know they're unreliable I decided to go ahead and test. Blown away with the result!

I don't have a super awesome grasp of it myself but from what I understand, the ideal range of betahydroxybutyrate (the blood ketone) is 0.5-3.0 mmoL (per Phinney/Volek) so what that shows is that I'm firmly in ketosis even though my pee sticks aren't showing ketones anymore - I'm surprised because I have had some bad days lately (in my estimation) and I figured that my pee sticks weren't showing anything because I was out. Figured I may as well test blood just to see if I really was starting over or not. Turns out I am not!

Aha! Well, that's great!
I would like to be able to test mine from time to time. I'm still wrangling with my insurance co to see if blood ketone testing is a covered expense... wish me luck!
"Don't trust pee-stix." (Except to confirm that you're dehydrated....)
