Sugar NOT effecting my weight loss?

I have a confession. Well it's more of a fun fact. For the past 8 years I've worked at a CANDY STORE! Half of that time has been part time since it's a seasonal job but 8 years nonetheless. During that time I've manage to lose and gain weight, during the season and off season. A perk of the job is that we can eat whatever we want while we're working. That includes gummy candies, chocolate, and fudge! I'm not really a chocolate person but the gummies and fudge is what gets me.
Anyway, when I went low carb I still ate candy at work but kept my carbs low in my meals. Still drank at least 2 liters of water a day and still lost weight. I wonder if my body is so use to the sugar that it doesn't effect my weight loss. I've heard of this happening with people who drank a lot but could it be the same with sugar? At my fittest about 3-4 years ago was the year that I actually worked year round. It's not like I'm stuffing down pounds of candy just a few handfuls a night. I know, I'm a horrible Keto person for this but it hasn't had an effect on my weight loss.

Well, you aren't keto if you're eating candy.
But unless you have a metabolic disfunction, you don't have to cut sugar or carbs at all to lose weight. In reality, even those with metabolic issues don't need to. It just makes it easier to eat less overall and for those people, helps them heal the condition.
Regardless of continuing to eat candy like you previously had, you've cut carbs at meals. So you might be low carb but that's not keto. Even if you've achieved ketosis, it's not the same thing. It's not a judgement, it's just the way it is. Being in ketosis sometimes doesn't make the diet keto. It makes it low carb. Even high carb eaters make ketones during overnight fasting. Keto's goal is full time ketosis for the health benefits.
Anyway, I only differentiate to point out that many people find that simply lowering carbs overall is plenty good enough to be able to be consistent enough to lose weight. Keto or low carb alone are not what's responsible for the weight loss. It's the hunger control allowing it to be easier to eat less and the increased energy typically making people want to be more active.
There's nothing wrong with having the candy if it works for you and you feel it's sustainable.
This is likely contributing to your lack of energy as well. You won't get the keto fat adaptation benefits if you're not fully keto. Low carb that is only part time ketosis isn't going to give you the energy benefits you read about full time ketosis providing. I'm sure it can provide a decent boost while you have ketones present and electrolytes are good, but you'll be going back and forth between sugar burning and fat burning and that can make that balance challenging to manage. Not impossible I guess.4 -
Don't keep your body guessing. Let it burn the fat and keep in ketosis and fat adaptation. I'm not saying that this is the only weight loss method. What I'm saying is don't keep it going back and forth.
Not this early. Either choose to get yourself in ketosis and fat adaptation or not. You're only going to feel like poop if you keep wavering back and forth, and you're never gonna feel the benefits.
Benefits include reduce cravings and being satiated so you can go multiple hours without eating. That is our natural way of eating less.
If you juggle back and forth, you're going to have a crap time.3
