Keto for PCOS/Infertility

Is anyone here doing Keto to assist w/ PCOS Symptoms and/or Infertility? I would love to hear how it worked out for you -- I am on Day Three of Keto and so far this seems fairly easy to me... I personally hate tracking my food(bc in the past it has brought out obsessive behaviors I was not a fan of) but I am going to try to keep up with it so I can track my carbs! I would love to drop as much weight as possible before I go for round #2 of IUI in November... I am not sure what realistic weight loss numbers are -- 6'2 Female 230(ish -- I haven't weighed myself in about 2 weeks) -- -Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

Good luck with it! I know lots of women in the PCOS group use low carb/keto to assist with their issues. If you're not also a member there, you might want to have a look.1

I recall someone posting a few weeks ago that had just conceived and was crediting the diet change.1

I've heard a lot of good things about keto helping with a lot of the PCOS symptoms. On another note, about the obsessive thing. What I usually do with my carbs (because I can get super obsessive) is I count them in my head. Yeah it's not as perfect as logging everything in MFP but it seems to be working so far for me. It also keeps the obsession at bay. Every once in a while I'll log a typical day and see where I land, adjust, and continue on.2

Although I wasn't aware of the benefits to my PCOS, I conceived both of my boys while eating low carb. This WOE really helps those of us who suffer from insulin resistance (which is extremely common in those with PCOS) and diabetes3

I have IR, don't have PCOS as far as I know, I have some symptoms but not the majority so I don't think I do. the weight loss and low carb have helped to lower my bg down to normal ranges so it's definitely helpful for that1

@auntstephie321 - PCOS is a syndrome or collection of symptoms, which means if you have a single symptom on the list, much less more than one, you could very easily have the condition, even if undiagnosed. Just something to keep in mind, because certain aspects of PCOS can severely complicate infertility far more than just standard infertility, if there is such a classification.
Best of luck to all.
I don't want to write a novel here, but I do low carb specifically in support of my PCOS, Insulin Resistance, Hypothyroidism, and many other health issues. I'm 40, so not looking to increase fertility, but I've had a definitely reduction in PCOS symptoms, and I'm not taking Metformin, though if my latest bought of carbicide didn't allow my insulin levels to return to my low carb normal level, I might need to get back on it. @RalfLott had a FABULOUS thread lately on how to best take Met, to get the brand name, and such, but I don't have the link handy. Maybe someone else does.
The simple fact is that many of us hate certain medications, but we may achieve better results or hit our goals by incorporating, so basically, "don't shoot yourself in the foot." LOL0 -
