to get things from food that it was never meant to give.

I notice that I use food to get comfort, detachment. Things like that.

Food is just for health, nutrition and keeping my body going. But I try to make food do something else for me. I might even say I expect it to do spiritual things for me, to make me able to be calmer, more peaceful, even to be in a happier mood for other's sake.

Anybody else relate?

This is a great awareness to have and you're certainly not alone!

I have used food all of my life for comfort and detachment in difficult situations. That is so cool that you are aware of that. I had been told for many years that I did that, but until I realized it for myself it was difficult to make changes. I still hit the donuts sometimes, and the cookies, and the pizza, but when I do it pops into my head sooner, "Hey, is there something that is bothering me?" And I try to do something to distract myself until I am thinking more clearly about the situation.

Many, many blessings! Thanks for sharing. It helps to hear that others struggle with the same thing - so you have helped me. I pray that I have encouraged you. :)
