EM2WL Calculator vs Fitbit Blaze for TDEE?

Hey all,

I am upping my calories to my 15% cut value and wanted some input on which TDEE I should use to calculate it.

Using the EM2WL calculator it calculates my TDEE with Light activity to be 2942 at my current weight, 15% cut of 2501.

Comparing the last month of my calorie burn on my Fitbit Blaze (it does have the wrist based HRM) , I average 3500 a day. That would make my 15% cut 2975!

I currently only do 2 or 3 structured workouts a week, and am a manager of a small specialty pet store, so I do a lot of lifting and moving of 15-35 lb bags of dog food on delivery days.

I am 26 years old, 5'7" and 298 lbs as of this morning. As the weather cools down more here in TX, I will start taking my dogs on one or two longer walks a day, in addition to my normal routine. I also plan on start lifting to work on increasing my lean muscle mass.

Marissa, the TDEE calculatot is giving you an estimate of what you spend on a daily basis. Looks like the activity level that you are selecting is lower than what it is in reality, considering what your FB is giving you. Since you are still upping calories and trying to find your true TDEE, I'd lean towards the FB reading, increasing slowly and watching what the body does. You actually want to go as high as you can on the calories to have enough room to adjust if the scale doesn't move. Starting in the lower end doesn't give you room maneuvering and changing calories around.

I would second Tereza and go with your fitbit numbers.
Sounds like your job is probably a lot more active than most, so maybe you underestimated on your activity level on the calculator?
My personal experience was I had to significantly increase after I got my fitbit as I guess I though I wasn't that active having a desk job, but actually I'm very active outside of that.
This is good news. More food!
