How does everyone handle the daily stress of school while also trying to lose weight? I have found it hard to do both and be successful. I have focused more on my education and that has resulted in late night eating and a lot of takeout. It would be great if I could get some great tips so that I can lower my stress and lose weight. Thanks! :)

I understand completely! Life itself is a true balancing act, and it's impossible not to drop the ball sometimes. I have found that managing the stress is paramount to wellbeing, and have amassed a few tips:

    1. I know from reading other threads on here that you are a Christian student. If you go to a Christian school, you can look for calming Chapels at certain times in the semester, as well as prayer warriors to support one another.
    2. My school offers a Stress Relief Week, which includes fun activities, special counseling and chair massage. Maybe yours does too.
    3. Some college counseling centers offer a place specifically for relaxing, and are happy to help you if you think ahead. These include anything from meditation software to gentle exercise equipment.
    4. Don't hesitate to move around whenever possible/permissible. Every motion counts towards calories out, and can help with stress/tension.
    5. Speaking of counseling, your peers, professors and student union staff understand stress, especially the Counselors. Vent to someone as needed.
    6. In terms of your diet, be prepared to either fast for lunch or bring your own.

    I hope those hints help!

For me, grad school is secondary to my primary FT job. Basically, I just log as I eat and look at where I'm at for calories before eating something. I have a Fitbit that syncs automatically, so logging is the easiest part. Are you using the smartphone app? If yes, you have the app with you everywhere. Use the barcode reader when possible to save time.
