So I went to my endocrinologist to discuss my thyroid and calcium issues and I had a great talk with the nurse! It was the first person I've found IRL who was on board with LCHF. She actually recommended dietdoctor.com to me (I told her I was familiar!).
She had bariatric surgery combined with low carb to keep it off and lost some 200 pounds. She told me to watch a YouTube by Sarah Helberg, and that her Dr. Clark's PA (a Mr. Clock) went around the US and now Canada speaking about low carb, low protein diets. It was pretty epic.
So she was excited about my weight loss and looking fwd to seeing me in three months to see my progress. She's also a diabetic and off all her meds entirely using low carb eating. So I thought that was neat.
As far as my doctor, the thyroid and the hair thing, for those who responded to my thread on my thyroid tests, he is sure my dosage is correct. As of now I'm trusting him. I'll be rechecked in three months. My primary is dwindling me off the oniprozole so that should fix my magnesium absorption issues (and I've started the vitamin C).
He asked when I started noticing the hair loss, and it actually was about the same time I started back to LCHF eating - so he thinks it's diet related. He wants me to take a multivitamin. He didn't recommend a certain one. Thots? Recommendations?

Congrats on the Nurse/Doctor positives.
I take a mixed bag of supps. Maybe the liquid one in individual packets from Calton Nutrition. It's called Nutreince or something and has AM and PM you take daily, it's liquid for good absorption, and in packets so powder in jar doesn't oxidize. It's pricey, but someone on here was giving it a test drive. Hope they chime in!0 -
Side note: doesn't really concern LCHF, but I had my thyroid out last year. I've gone through a lot as my parathyroid were stunned (first they thot accidentally removed), so my body can't regulate calcium (you die - your heart needs it). I've been on up to 9000 mg calcium a day, plus vitamin D, plus activated vitamin D, thousands of dollars worth of blood tests, two long hospital stays, yada, yada, yada.
I'm finally healthy enough to start trying to wean me off a lot of the many meds I'm on. I'm so happy!!! My two shoulder surgeries this year delayed things. So the first to go is calcitriol. The first of many, I hope!2 -
Yay! Keep progressing! I have no multi vitamin suggestions but am sure you'll get many.0

Food carotene - if you have a vitamin D deficiency this will help resolve it and will not result in an overdose so you can take it with your other D supplements.
Magnesium - topical is more bioavailable than oral.
Nature's Sunshine makes an herb blend called Adrenal Support - if you don't have a thyroid then probably the whole endocrine system is struggling and could use some additional nutrition.
Iron - not sure if you have this tested, but it's also another common cause of hair loss when combined with thyroid issues.0
