We're all well-versed in the full-body workout, the low impact, resistance training, and calorie burning benefits of swimming. But what are some of your OTHER favorite "hidden" benefits of swimming.

Mine include:
* the boogie-bubbly- breathy repetitious rhythm that can be as mind-clearing and centering as a good meditation session;
* the deep-sinus-clearing nose blow that I get about 30 minutes after getting out of the water that brings sweet relief from my seasonal allergies for several hours after I swim :smiley:

    I love how all your problems vanish in the water. And you are away from annoying texts and calls etc.

    That weird combination of feeling both energized and tired after a hard swim.
    As your mind clears, your body feels stronger.

    Great for my mental health. Even more important in these long business trips. Without swimming I get moody, anxious, angry.
    Swimming keeps me sane.

    An awesome night's sleep :blush:
    I had an aqua cardio instructor who used to tell us at the end of each class as we were stretching to "leave it all at the bottom of the pool." Great for visualization.

    My arthritis is always greatly improved after a good swim. The pool I go to in Markham Ontario has a hot tub that I stretch out in afterwards. I hold that out as a dangling carrot whenever I am fighting with myself to get out of bed and get to the pool in the morning.
