Shingles

So last Sunday (10 days ago) I started feeling terrible and noticed these red, puffy blotches developing on my leg. It looked bad so went to Dr next day. Turns out I have shingles. Originally Dr (not my personal Dr but his associate) said it would take a week to clear. When that didn't happen I went back. My doctor says 3-4 weeks total now. It's all concentrated in my lower right leg. If I worked in an office I could probably go back to work. But I drive a bus for work so obviously I need full function of my leg.
This illness doesn't directly have to do with my VSG but I'm afraid it's going to throw me off track. The last 20 months I've developed good eating and exercise habits. And the past 8 months I've settled into a comfortable weight. I feel healthier/more fit than I've been in decades. But with the shingles I haven't been able to exercise much. I'm not overeating but I fear the longer this lasts I could fall back into bad habits.
Has anyone had shingles? How long did it last for you? From everything I've read/heard it does sound like it could be a month. Or even longer. This really sticks.

I've not had it, but have several friends and family members that have. It seems like with anything, the unfortunate answer is it varies. The length and severity has varied from person, but I noticed the older the longer it seems to take.
Rest yourself as you feel necessary. You've been at this long enough. Keep checking in here, let us know how you're doing. If you need, shoot me a message and I can keep checking on you via messages! Don't sweat it too much, stress will make it worse.
Most recently my friend had it and the worst part was about 10 days, after that point her energy started coming back, but took nearly three weeks to be completely cleared up.1
