I see we are up to 151 members on here now. Does anyone have a count (or remember) how many GoaDies were on old WW Bull Board? (Or was there even a counting mechanism there?)

I know some former regulars have not made the transition to MFP but it appears we are growing.

I can't imagine there's any way to know about members on the WW boards.

    A couple of thoughts:

    (1) We should be doing something here like "NewbiePoster" used to do over on WW. A recurring welcome message, with encouragement to new folks to post their stories and questions.

    (2) I have no way to know, but I posted a recruitment message of sorts on the MFP "Getting Started" Message board on Saturday 10/1. It seems like our numbers jumped by 8-10 in the days that followed. It would be nice if those new GoaDies would give us some feedback. How did they find us?

My two cents: fresh blood is essential to this thing of ours. Oldtime GoaDs are going to come and go as their interest waxes and wanes, but unless there's a source of new members this could get awfully stale.

On our GOAD home page there is a block above Discussions for Newbies to introduce themselves. I noticed some Old Goads have been welcoming them there.

Hope our Admin comment on this here.

I just took Brian's invite and posted it again in the getting started section. Maybe we should do this every week

Too bad NewbiePoster didn't move with us--I'm sorry I didn't think to copy the message. It was one of the first I read on GOAD and it really helped set me straight from the get-go about many of my misconceptions about weight loss. It also sobered me up that there was no hurry to lose the weight because there is no finish line...
