I had a couple good rides, nothing epic, but good. Saturday I needed to sleep in, so I didn't go with DW and others to ride in the mountains of Malibu. Instead I did a nice solo 22 miler. Nice pace. Explored one of the canyon roads north of me for about 7 miles before turning around and rode on the bike paths.
Sunday group ride - I led the 'B' group, which was the same as the A group until we got to one spot where we kinda took a shortcut to avoid two cat 4 climbs. Felt pretty good at times...it was encouraging. All in all 37 miles, about 2000'. So a pretty good weekend.0 -
Nice Mark and thanks for starting this today. I got lost in starting the LTL thread.
Sunday was cold and if not monsoon-like at least steady rain from lighter to heavier so I got out for a challenging hill climb ride on Sat. something like 2500' of climbs in 25 miles with one section that bumps up to about 14% for a ways and steady 11% for between 1/2 to one mile. Used my cross bike which had squeaky noises, little pings either from spokes or the disc brakes. Only did that above 11% grade. Rode the same bike today on hill route up to 8% and none of that noise.
Oh and on Sunday I rode through the "monsoon" to my WW meeting and back for 10 more soggy miles.1 -
Did not get on the bike this weekend for the first time since my vacation trip. Had a Scouting for Food drive (hand out bags to be picked up this weekend), Webelos-Scout campout as DS begins the transition to Scouts and then I had to mow the lawn and get my trailer ready for the food pick up next weekend.
I am still commuting no matter what the weather. Bob maybe the noises were from the wet weather. My brakes make more noise in the rain.0
