LCHF body changes?

I have been eating LCHF for 18 days and I have a few questions. One change I already notice is that my ankles are no longer swollen. My clothes are looser but I've only lost 8 lbs. Are these common on LCHF? Is this an indication I am in ketosis? How is it that eating LCHF can reduce more inches than weight?

You tend to lose a lot of water weight at the beginning, so that would account for the svelte ankles, and probably the looser clothing, too.
Also remember that fat weighs less than muscle, so if you are losing fat, the scale won't show as great a loss as if you had lost lean muscle mass. Also remember that the scale is often a lying liar pants! Don't let it rule you!2 -
Very much so.
Without exercise I managed to change this much in almost a year without really losing weight.
Be prepared to fight a mental battle with the scale. Just because the scale doesn't move doesn't mean you're not losing fat.

For an even better idea.. my weight was literally the same at the one year point.
So... did I do something wrong because the scale didn't move? We're my macros not just perfect or did I not exercise enough? lol I couldn't have possibly exercised less! I'm super lazy! Until 3 weeks ago. I've been good since then. Pretty good streak for me! Lol
Edited to add,
I wanted to highlight that I started keto in May 2015 at 165 lbs. I lost all the scale weight in the first 4 months and haven't lost another pound by scale since then.
If I let that "failure" stop me when it was first happening because I was CONVINCED that I had "stalled"... I don't know where I would be right now. But I know for sure that I wouldn't have the lowest body fat I've ever had as an adult.
I did egg fasts, daily intermittent fasts and a couple longer ones, changed macros up and changed them again, lowered calories, increased calories and stopped calorie counting, and started and stopped trying to exercise a handful of times... if the scale responded at all it was temporary and usually went up rather than down!
The lesson I learned was to keep doing what was already working and trust that my body knows how much fat I should have.2 -
I have lost inches in my waist, after just two weeks. That is the first place I noticed a difference.0
