Trans fats

I'm not proud to admit it but about 1/3 of my weeks food intake comes from fast food and restaurants. From what I know, trans fats = bad. But I just read that trans fats occur in nature and in meat. I don't understand. Is trans fat bad because it's man made and it's supposed to make food more shelf-stable? But if it's man made, how does it occur in nature?

From the American Heart Association
Oct 7, 2015 - Small amounts of trans fats occur naturally in some meat and dairy products, including beef, lamb and butterfat. There have not been sufficient studies to determine whether these naturally occurring trans fats have the same bad effects on cholesterol levels as trans fats that have been industrially manufactured.

Take that as you will, but I don't believe transfats that naturally occur in meat are harmful? We know the fake ones drive down hdl and increase ldl, but I eat a
Lot of beef (one to three pounds a day) and my cholesterol numbers were awesome. Maybe I am the exception to the rule, but based on how bad my health got when eating crap, I doubt it.2 -
Thanks guys!! So confusing when media just points to something and claims it's all bad. Very informative articles thank you.0
