Calorie deficit?

Options
I've been lifting heavy for about 6 months now and I'm slowly (so slowly) seeing body fat changes, but my biggest gains have been muscle definition (especially in my arms) and that I'm lifting heavier.

I'm already pretty lean (109 lbs). And though I'm primarily focused on building muscle, I'd like to lose another inch on my waist/belly and shed the little extra fat on my back, thighs, etc. -- I keep reading that to get there I need to eat for maintenance/above? I only eat about 200 under maintenance, not a huge deficit, and I eat my weight in protein (110-120g/day).

Has anyone here eaten more or at maintenance calories, but still lost body fat in the process? Do I need to get rid of that calorie deficit to get the body and fitness I want?

My net calories hover around 1300/day.

Thanks!
