Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?

My wife, Rose, and I will be flying to Monterey, CA today. We'll be in that incredibly beautiful community beside the Monterey Bay from Friday through Monday. On Monday, we fly to her (my wife owns everything except my horses) condo in Phoenix, AZ. We'll spend the Thanksgiving week there.

Poor, but I ain't so poor that I can't afford to go outside. Oh, and lookee here gas is $1.89.
I better get some. I bet they raise it today.
Climbing, climbing, climbing. I gotta learn a new trick. Kind of cold this morning. 28 degrees I think. My fingers got cold and I didn't get to a ray of sunshine till minute 50.
I think I climbed for two songs more than a playlist. I think Mr Wizard said 2,108 feet of climbing and 1,400 calories. That calories is ok I think. I didn't wear a chest strap. I was going to wear my Sportline but I couldn't find it. But on descent when I got cold I put my windbreaker on, I found it. Descent, I even put on a face mask. That promptly caused my glasses to fog. Then I remembered that I got goggles in the trunk of my car. Would I be weird wearing goggles on my morning climb?
Yeah, right, who is going to see me? Traffic today. One guy went by when I was suiting up. Not friendly, didn't wave. Driving fast, on dirt. I am glad he went ahead of me. Going down, descending, one guy, Colorado plates, was in front of me. I passed him. Get this. Sometimes I am faster than cars. On that road anyway. Oh and I seen opposite direction traffic of one trail runner. I seen that guy before. I didn't talk to him. But I thought hey, if he would get up earlier, I would race him up the hill. I bet he is one of us 4 mph guys.
Oh, one other guy going up as I was going down. He took a cut out and gave me the road. And I gotta admit, I was cooking.
Animals. I haven't seen animals in a while. No turkeys and no bobcat. I don't know why those two go together. I seen a bobcat in october, maybe third week. Then I seen guys was hunting it. Then it occurs to me that maybe I should keep my mouth shut about what animals I see.
Hey, you guys don't know where I live do you? I seen a bobcat maybe twice in my life.
Yesterday, I think I struck out again. Ate too much for a down day of exercise. My nemesis. Peanut butter. Crackers. I ate 500 cals of peanut butter alone. Nevermind the rest. At least I didn't drink beer. Allright, but get this. I am not overweight anymore. At least I wasn't yesterday. I weighed in at less than 25 bmi. Heh. 25 bmi is the line to overweight.
Not only that. I am having fun. I think I am living my second childhood and I gotta tell you, it ain't bad.
Did I say down day of exercise? It was howling wind. You know, the kind of wind that leaves little piles of dust on the lee side of wind obstacles. Ugh.
But hey I can pull a silver lining out of that pigs ear.
Howling wind knocks trees down across my climbing track. Hey I will put a caption photo for you guys to put in your wikis. A tree laying across the road, you know what that spells? That spells wilderness. Or, you better have a chainsaw if you want to go home.
(bicycles, no problemo.)
(this pic is actually from early summer. So I t doesn't exactly connect to today.)

Rick, my dearest first cousin lived in Monterey for over a decade after she retired from the Army. It has the most perfect weather in California & is so beautiful! My sister currently lives in Scottsdale, hope you get in some hiking. This time of year is pretty awesome in AZ! The last time I was there I went to see Chihuly at the Desert Botanical Garden. Travel well.
