Pretty much the only thing I'm missing on L:CHF/Keto is potatoes. I could live on potatoes. Luckily, I'm really not missing them too terribly much, just every now and then it sounds like a comforting easy option. Anyway.... I've been SO very low carb this week (maybe even too low), that I was thinking of having a small potato for dinner. I'd love to get some opinions on the occasional white potato while doing LCHF

None of us can tell you with certainty what you can or cannot eat. We're all different. Will it fit your macros? If so, you can probably get away with it once in a while. But more importantly, is it a trigger food? If you have one, will that cause you to crave more and/or binge? If so, then stay far, far away!
I love potatoes, too, but after making a creamy, cheesy cauliflower mash, I no longer need the 'taters.

Agree with @MyriiStorm. It's great if it fits and doesn't cause you to crave. I've never been a fan of the potato. Just the stuff I put on them. Same is true of bread.1

I eat over a pound of red skin and sweet potatoes every Saturday night, after lifting. CKD refeeds ftw.2

I agree with @MyriiStorm too. I eat potatoes (white or sweet) occasionally. More so now that I'm in/near maintenance (I waffle between in and just above. Mostly just above. So take my words with a grain of salt. :tongue)1

Just my personal opinion but if you're not missing them too much, don't eat them.
I occasionally have a small bite of potato (around 25g) when sharing a meal that's served with them. I can do that and stay under my 20-25g carbs for the day and it's not enough of a sugar burst to affect me.
A whole potato? They have high GI so the sugar would probably make me feel a bit crappy and might stall me for a day or two. If I kept it to one small potato, not a huge problem. If eating that potato triggered cravings or made me hungrier or let me think that regularly having a potato for comfort/convenience was fine then it probably would end up being a problem.
In maintenance I will probably add in small amounts of potato. Right now losing weight is my main goal so I don't want to slow or jeopardize that process for something I don't really miss.
For easy comforting veggies, squash, celeriac root, swede (rutabaga), broccoli or cabbage can all be served with cheese and butter and have that same warm, comforting effect for me.3
