Hi! Thanks for reading. Completely new to LC. I started reading Mark Hyman Eat Fat get thin, then a little about low carb and keto etc. I've been researching as much as I can but with a busy schedule I know there is much more to learn!
Basically I'm a 33 yr old female about 150, Goal is 135-140. I am active, love to workout. My job is fairly active. I used a calculator and it said I should be eating at 1770 calories to lose with a 5% carb, 15% protein, 80% fat breakdown. I made my diary open.
Pretty much I want to know if that sounds about right to others similar in goals? I'm ok with losing slowly as long as I am losing and not gaining! I was eating tons of carbs and sugar so I've made some progress with my diet but it still seems my carbs a bit high.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome!
The macros seem about right, since you don't have a lot to lose, the calculator probably gave you a small deficit.
When first starting out, you're going to lose a lot of water weight as your glycogen stores empty so watch your electrolytes as losing water means losing sodium.
I wouldn't worry about the exact breakdown of your macros just yet as you are just beginning. Just keep your carbs low and eat fat to satiety. You may notice that your meals are lower in volume but higher in calories at first. This is perfectly fine and you may find you are more satiated this way.
You said you are fairly active. You may find a decrease in performance (during exercise) as your body gets adapted to burning fat for fuel instead of glucose.
The Launch Pad is very helpful, particularly the stickie on electrolytes.
Once again, welcome and I hope you find success in this way of eating!4 -
That sounds like a good plan for macro breakdown. That is close to what I shoot for from a percentage standpoint but double the calories. I am a 6'1" 182 man in maintenance though. I do struggle getting the fat above 70 and protein below 25 though sometimes.
Lots and lots of great info in the launch pad and in the various threads. Lots of helpful people in the group when you have questions.1 -
I just want to reiterate about the electrolytes. They are extremely important when you are doing low carb. Good luck with reaching your health goals! And don't hesitate to post any other questions you have.0
