Hi, all. Sort of a Newbie lurker..... Lo Carb ,Type2 and I haven't logged in forever, but I just had to share this with someone. I could never get lower BG numbers in the AM , they were always in the 160's to 170's ,(Dawn Phenom.) but the last two days, I have been trying something new. When I wake up, take my reading and it is high...I drink a glass of water with 1tblsp. Chia seeds and 2tblsp. ground flaxseed...lots of fiber and it has been coming back down very quickly.... Last night I decided to drink 2tblsp ground flaxseed water right before bedtime and it is 110 this morning!! I am so excited!!
I know it may just be a fluke, but I am going to keep trying it to see if it keeps working...Sorry to run on so, but I just had to tell someone...no one here understands how exciting it is to see a lower number in the AM!!

On the down side, Sugar is the devil!! and I have had a run in with him the past two days and my finger joints are swollen and stiff! So back to Hades he goes!....Pop Tarts!! Blueberry, Yes, I know better, RL . Sometimes I am just DENSE!!

Love reading all of you guys and girls posts!! You have all helped me get to where I am now, minus the sugar fiasco! That was all on me! lol
Thanks !!!

Fiber is one of the things that is a "may help" item. The longer I look into this, the more I find that there are more than a dozen things that fall into that category. For me, sleep is big. I used to average around 5 hours and a long night of sleep was 6 1/2. Once I got my average up over 6, that was worth 10 points off my morning FBG reading. ACV works for some if taken at night, others not as much. Caffeine helps some and hurts others. Fiber is the same. I know some people who get spikes with too much and others like you who get a benefit. It doesn't seem to have an effect one way or the other with me. In the end, most of us have to use trial and error to get what works for us. It is important to get posts like yours so people know WHAT to try even if it doesn't end up working for them.

Hi, Sweetiepiestef! There's lots of great info to lurk about in.

cstehansen, Thanks, I agree, I was reading some posts on here today about different things that help others bring down their numbers. I hope to remember them when I need to lower my BG.

@Time2LoseWeightNOW, I wasn't even thinking of wagging one of my own sore-jointed fingers....

I have never heard of this method of slaying Dawn Phenomenon (what a name!), but there must be something to it if that's all you did differently and had such a dramatic result. Great discovery!

How were you able to increase sleep time? I've had sleep troubles for a long time.

I'm a LC and type 1 here. Sleep is HUGE when it comes to my blood sugar readings. If I have a poor night's sleep I can expect to be over 150 easy in the morning, regardless of everything else. I'm glad fiber is working for you! I have found that I have better/more stable blood sugars through the day with higher fiber intake, which can be hard when I'm trying to limit my carbs..... but I have begun to come to a balance. Good luck with your fiber benefits!

Clear conscience, get things done, physically exhaust yourself throughout the day (be it with physical work &/or exercise), & sleep hygeine. I can sleep for 18+ hours a night (night/day) under the right circumstances....mainly just letting the room get cold (50 degrees F), no light, no electronics, etc. Wake up feeling reanimated
