I live in Eastern Washington state. Winters are snowy any chilly here so outdoor riding is hit and miss for a while.

That's awesome! I drive almost an hour each way...and there are no mountains, just corn fields.

Yep! I lived in Seattle before Pullman (Boise and near Salt Lake before that) and then we moved to Chicago for my husband to go to grad school. Now we live in central IL which is completely flat with corn fields as far as the eye can see. I've been trying desperately to get back to WA for years, but my husband has a good job with an even better retirement system so we're making the best of it here. We've talked about Spokane a lot, but haven't been there for years.

I grew up in Ohio so am very familiar with the flat cornfield landscape. There was a strong community of English riding there as I remember.

Those aren't real numbers. It's 52 degrees here and rainy. We call it "snowed in."

Wow! We have a cold front coming in sometime Wednesday night. On Thursday the high is supposed to be in the upper 40s and the low *may* get down to freezing. And that's as cold as it will get all winter. Seriously. I don't even own a blanket for my horse.

    Stay warm!!

@Mouse_Potato we usually get these cold snaps but not until end of January... in this weather my horses are double up with 300-400g fill each blanket if they even go out.

@showjumper My horse didn't get to go out today. Because cold. And wet. Uh... It was really cold and wet today...

I'm guessing your horses are a whole lot tougher than mine! ROFL!!!

We got snow yesterday, but now it's all melted and everything is flooded. Unfortunately, it's going to be in the teens later this week so everything will be a fun skating rink. Ugh! This is why this will be my 5th winter going south

I'm going to stop using the word "cold." Clearly it does not mean what I think it means.

I am currently in SE Pennsylvania -- mild winters, beautiful falls and springs, very humid summers. It is unbelievably horsey here. I belong to three dressage clubs, there is a schooling show every week (except Dec/Jan/Feb), rated shows within driving distance at least every other week, horse professionals and establishments of all kinds abound. We have been here 8 years and I would love to stay forever, but my husband is looking to retire early and we will probably go back to Massachusetts where we raised our children and one still lives. Love Mass, just not nearly as horsey. I am from the midwest (southern WI) and have lived in CO, MI and ME. I have never been to WA or TX or AB -- my apologies as I have heard all three are beautiful and very horsey.

I haven't been to Pennsylvania, but I've always wanted to go to that region (Buck's County!) because of all of the horsey opportunities that central Illinois sadly does not offer. One of my best friends is in Boston and has a really active group of horse friends :)

I live in Pinellas Park, FL. 10 minutes away from the beach. Center of the state the peninsula in the peninsula on the west coast.

I love where I live. Horses, beach (no horses allowed) work and shopping all in one little area. Our city really supports the equestrians by maintaining trails, a couple of riding arenas and an obstacle course.

This weekend it is supposed to get "cold" 47 on Friday night. No worries though. The high on Saturday is 70 and Sunday will be back up to the mid 70s. Our longest cold spell lasted 2 weeks.
