Does being sick or taking medicine affect ketosis?

Just curious....the past month I've been sick. First I had to take a round of antibiotics which I hate doing. Then I got sick again, with a terrible cold for ten days and took cold medicine. I noticed during this time my ketosis was spotty or non existent, even though I was still following macros, just probably not eating quite so much.

Stress will affect ketone levels. I'm sure poor health and fatigue could too. And so could sugary medicines and cough candies.

I hope you are recovered soon. :(

a lot of medications cause me to retain an obscene amount of water, which I expect would impact test strip results

There are a lot of things affected when sick, and with various medications. The best suggestion I can give is to focus on healing and return to dieting when beyond that. Don't try to manage both simultaneously.
