Should I buy a set of 20 lb db's or a 30 lb bb?

I just started AllPro and I can't use the barbell on everything (OHP and bicep curls) yet because it's too heavy. My dumbbells only go up to 15 lbs. Should I buy a 20 lb. db set or a 30 lb. barbell? I am leaning toward the barbell in case I can't use my other one inside the cage for everything, that way I could leave the small outside. However, I'm a complete newbie and I don't want to waste money so I would like some input from experienced lifters.

Is the BB the kind that you can add plates to? Are the DBs fixed or can you adjust the weight on those?

I would get a BB I could add plates to. I figured I could just add to it until I could use the 45 lb. one and also use it for everything I do outside the cage. It's a bigger investment but more flexible. I could buy either type of db. Ideally I would buy both, but we are also buying a cage so I can't have it all.

If you can have it so the DBs are more than just fixed 20 lb'ers, I would go with those as they give you more flexibility going forward.
