I've tried three times to get past w8d2 ... each time, I punk out at about 2.5 miles. WTF? It *IS* hot and humid here and I HAVE been slacking ... I haven't run with *consistency* in about a month. Even so, I was able to do w8d1!! and this is the SAME THING. So what gives?

(I'm *thisclose* to being a c25k dropout. I see other people running for 3 miles! and more!!! and I'm just meh and blah about it. What is wrong with me?)

I hated week 8. I got through it, but just barely. All 3 workouts stunk. Week 9 was awesome. Maybe jump ahead and see if that helps? (Unless you're on the program that only goes for 8 weeks in which case never mind.)

First, I hope you don't drop out.

Second, I know the extreme heat and humidity has had a huge impact on my runs. I am also on W8 and did W8D2 last night and only ran 2.1 miles which was .14 miles shorter than W8D1. The heat index was also over 100° and I could feel it as I was getting close to finishing.

Keep going, you can do it!

Run for time instead, not distance...meaning shift your ultimate goal. So for example, if it is taking you 30 minutes to run the 2.5 miles, then increase your run time to 35 minutes, instead of increasing distance. As you add more and more time the distance will go up as well. Oh and a little tip most programs don't say, they base all the runs off a 10 minute mile, but the ultimate goal is to get you running 30 minutes straight, no matter how far it is. After that it is up to you. So ignore the distance and focus on the time.

Do what rduhlir tells you to do. But, also, it sounds like you might want to change up your running. I remember in weeks 8 and 9 that running became kind of boring. A repetitive thing that continued for 30 minutes. It was a bit of a hump. Whatever your challenges, this article can be helpful -> http://www.runnersworld.com/beginners/get-motivated-to-run-again

Also, mix it up. Try a new route, a huge hill, a trail, a track, a race and see what you can do. Running can be all sorts of different things, depending on your mood.

I agree with the different route, routine as well.. Maybe all it takes is just a change of music as well.. Today I had the song Inner Ninja kick on right as I was starting to run out of steam on my week 8 day 2.. I found my inner strength and pushed through it.. You can do it, just don't quit. you are almost a graduate, almost a C25k alumni.. You got this!!

Yep. In week 7 I had to switch to an audio book because music wasn't keeping my mind busy - and I was getting bored. The books slowed my pace down at first - but I felt like I could go a lot farther. And it only took a couple of runs for my pace to pick back up on its own. And now I can't wait to go back out and run to hear what is happening in my book.

    awesome advice, everyone!

I was at the beach and ran there ... still got stuck on w8d2, even running on the sand BUT I had on new shoes that gave me blisters and I think with my old shoes I could've made it.

I'm going to try books on tape, a different route, and changing to time instead of distance. Thanks a million!

I had trouble on W8D2 tonight as well. Glad I am not the only one. This is the first time I was not able to complete a run so I am super disappointed in myself. Hopefully Monday when I retry I will nail it.

I will try some of the advice on here so I can kick that runs butt.

I am doing C210K and I got stuck at week 7d3.i was doing all of the runs onthe treadmill and 25 minutes straight seemed like so long on the treadmill... I was dreading doing it outside bc of the heat but I went to a park @ 3 in the afternoon and the trail was mostly shaded. I found that run to be not as difficult as I thought it would be in my head. Good luck and keep going! Don't look back!!! You have come so far!!!

Running in humidity is really hard! I ran W5D3 in extreme humidity and it was SO HARD! I actually ran at a better pace when I was in the high altitude of Colorado (I live in Chicago) than I did in the humidity.

Definitely run for time then you can work on your pace.

Hey. You're running. And that's awesome all on its own.

    This.
Hang in there, grdaze, it'll come together. You're doing really well by running on the beach. That would be fun to try.
Don't get discouraged. You're doing great.
