Saturated Fat?

So, I love bacon. I eat 4 pieces for breakfast and cook 3 eggs in the bacon fat. Am I over doing it with fat? I'm also googling healthy fats that I can incorporate in my diet like Salmon and avocados.

I don't eat breakfast but that's pretty typical for me to eat for lunch.
As long as you're only eating when hungry there's no reason to suspect you're overdoing the fat.2 -
Thank you so much, Sunny.0

vOv I ate a bag of cocoa coated coconut chips this morning, along with some coconut water. Pretty sure I'm not too far behind you on the sat fat front, and I never notice any ill effects from it.2

I eat 3 extra large eggs and cheese for breakfast most mornings. I'm not worried as my lipid numbers are beyond amazing thanks to this way of eating! Just make sure you are not also eating lots of carbs with the fat - not a good combination.2

If I may add my two cents... I actually liquefy butter, along with other fats and drink it.. (in coffee, tea and cocoa, but still) and have done so for more than a year. Lost 50 plus lbs, and improved my overall health and vitality.. good saturated fat is where it's at!3

I eat eggs and bacon every day and my cholesterol has never been lower. Used to take cholesterol meds, but don't need them anymore.2

I'm probably in the minority here, but I would want to know where the bacon came from, that is - what did the hapless pig eat?
I'm guessing the saturated fat in Hormel bacon might bear scant resemblance to anything our cave-dwelling ancestors might have snacked on....3 -

OMG...now I have something else to obsess about!!! JK...I'm pretty picky about where my bacon comes from...the hapless pigs may not live the life I would like them to live, but I know it's certainly not as bad as it could be. (this from a born & bred farm girl)2 -

There's a butcher shoppe near my place that often has naturally cured bacon from free-range pigs ... it's expensive but AMAZING.

For anyone who follows farm futures...pork is a glut commodity right now. As a benefit, bacon prices should drop and local groceries in KS have pork roasts at 99 cents a pound. I buy roasts and grind/add personal seasoning/freeze to make awesome pork sausage.2

You're definitely not the only one who cares about where their meat comes from. If you're in the US or Canada, I'm sure you can find a brand of bacon that comes from well-sourced farms that prioritise animal welfare (I'm sure Whole Foods can point you in the right direction). Here in the U.K. the Spoilt Pig brand is probably the best option for bacon from pigs who get to live a better life and eat quality food.1 -
@albertabeefy & @PaleoInScotland, you don't miss that tangy antibiotic aftertaste?1

I went to the butcher yesterday and got my bacon. No more store bought for me. I'm getting the rest of my meat from the Amish market.0
