PreOp diet and Diverticulitis

I spent last night in the ER on morphine and IV antibiotics with a diagnosis of diverticulitis. It's very frustrating as I've been so careful to watch my diet and am losing weight but apparently my diet is not good for my gut. Anyone with similar problems or experience?
The fiber I was using before are the fiber gummies which have something like 9 carbs. I quit taking them last week and I don't know if that's a direct cause or just coincidence. grrrr.
