Just as Cool In Person

I met Amy Berger this week, and she is just as cool in person as she is in her blog. She was so helpful, and answered all the questions I had about nutrition, cholesterol, supplements, exercise, medications, BG readings and more.
She does phone and Skype consultations, but since we're both in the Washington, D.C. metro area we met in person. I had wanted help sifting through all the wonderful information people have posted here as well as my own research to try to figure out what would work best for me. She gave me some great suggestions and was very encouraging. After talking with two other nutritionists (free with my health insurance), both of whom pushed the high-carb SAD for T2D, it was refreshing to talk to someone who understands LCHF is a healthy WOE for a lot of people, especially those with diabetes.
If you're looking for a one-off session, I highly recommend Amy. She's very knowledgeable, and a lot of fun to talk to.

@MyriiStorm - Should you be inclined, a more detailed play-by-play would be of great interest!
My excellent but not LCHF-trained nutritionist referred me for specific keto topics to Carrie Loughran of KetoCare - ring any bells with anyone?
Thx!1 -
@RalfLott she had asked if I would share my latest lab results with her, and me being the nerd that I am, I sent her my graphs of my lipid panels and A1C levels for the past two years. She asked about medical history and current medications/issues, what supplements I was taking, my activity level, and what I typically eat.
Based on all the info we discussed, she suggested I would probably benefit from upping my protein intake and taking Biotin and Chromium supplements. I had asked her about exercise (cardio vs. weights), and she said both are beneficial, but I would probably get more of the results I want from the weights. We talked about a lot of other stuff (cholesterol, hyperinsulinemia, blood pressure, fasting, and more). It was reassuring to hear I'm on the right track about a lot of this, and I appreciated the suggestions for fine-tuning some areas.
I think I've heard of Carrie Loughran, but can't recall anything specific. Have to look up her site.2 -

If I might.... did she suggest insulin or advanced lipid testing?
Thx again! It's helpful to hear about interactions with genuine experts in ketogenic nutrition, since they're so few and far between.0 -

@RalfLott we didn't talk about the non-standard tests. Probably it was because the trends on my A1C and lipids were already headed in the right direction, so no real need to dig deeper unless I run into problems.
I'm due for another round of labs in March or April, so it will be interesting to see if the trends continue.
