I had moderate gastritis that was discovered during an endoscopy (which was comped as a twofer along with a colonoscopy - nice, huh).
I had never been symptomatic, but I was taking a lot of NSAIDS as a result of primitive knee surgery when I was a squirt.
The GI doc told me to take a name-brand PPI for a year, then come back and see him. ??I didn't notice anything to start with, so what point was there to an office visit in 12 months? (Other than easy income for the PPI patent holder, that is.)
His replacement suggested 45-60 days of generic PPI and lay off the *kitten* NSAIDS.
I whined about it at the time, but - Eurethra! - losing carbs and weight cleared up my knee inflammation, so I don't need any of them *kitten* pills!
