about my three year adventure with pancreatitis and fistulas.
I had surgery on November 9, 2016. They didn't have to take out my spleen or any of my pancreas, They found where the hole was and sewed it to my small intestine. The doctor did tell me that 80% of my pancreas has atrophied because of the inflammations cutting off the blood vessels. This was the less risky surgery for me.
A week later, I had to go to emergency for a very, very painful episode of pancreatitis. They did quite a few scans to make sure there were no problems with the surgery, and when all was said and done, it was because of the surgery that I got pancreatitis.(this can happen more often than not).
So, it's been over a month now, following a strict low, low fat diet, and trying to boost my protein, I am pain free.
There should be no more problems as long as I follow the 'food rules' the doctor has laid out for me.
Truth be told, it's kinda easy to eat this way, although I am having a problem with the protein.
So after all this time, I have to say, they finally fixed the problem. Great way to end the old year and start the new one.

Good grief, that's quite an ordeal.
But Congrats on getting through it!
Are you on a continuous glucose monitor?
Why very low fat ? Seems like a strange diet for a diabetic, since it implies high carb....0 -

If I eat too much fat, I get sick. With little pancreas left, my body doesn't digest the fat so well. Veggies and low fat meats and beans(of different kinds). No deep fried foods, no cheese. Nothing too spicy, although my GP said I could slowly re-introduce spices and see how I tolerate them. My sugars have been high, so when I see the diabetes drug. Next week, I'm hoping he will have more insight.0 -
