Newly diagnosed as Type 2

Hey all! I was just diagnosed with Type 2 right before Christmas. I am on Metformin and depending on how my weight loss goes before March, I may also be put on Victoza. I am really wanting to do well and maybe dropy A1C back into the normal range (it is 6.9).

My husband is also Type 2, but he doesn't care for himself which can make this difficult for me as I am not sure he will be supportive. I know I am responsible for me and only me and I plan on taking care of myself, but support is nice!

Any support and encouragement is welcome! Any tips, etc is also welcome!

Welcome. And good luck. I hope you get the numbers you want. :)

My tip would be Dr Bernstein. His book, Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution, was a real game changer for me. My numbers started coming down before I even started losing.

Welcome. You'll find plenty of support here, tips, suggestions, links, anything you need. And who knows, maybe your husband will be inspired by you. If you can take some information sessions with your local diabetes association office, I found them very helpful.

Amen! You can't beat Dr. Bernstein's book - unless it's with his great videos.
I've picked up some great advice I'd never have found elsewhere (like having your physician order name-brand Glucophage instead of generic metformin, which can be rough on your GI system).

If you search "Dr. Bernstein Diabetes University" his Youtube vids should come right up.
