Stomach Flu

I'm suffering through my first bout of stomach flu, and I'm 1yr post RNY. OMG KILL ME NOW!!!! I'm on day two. Day one: I drank a protein shake...or should I say that I just borrowed it? I haven't thrown up, but I'm not really eating. I'm living in the bathroom. As soon as I try to eat, my body says NOOOO. I put small bites of food in my mouth, but immediately spit them out because I KNOW it isn't gonna end well. I got very weak by the end of day 1, most likely due to lack of calories. Day two: woke up to stomach rumbling something fierce! Food isn't an option at all: not even a protein shake. I sipped tea with some success. I am sipping on water, but everything goes right through me. I'm trying to stay hydrated. I feel the effects of low calories and no vits. I just tried some Frosted Flakes with fair life (odd but I can hold those down when nothing else sits well)...the calories made me feel better about the situation, but I'm pretty sure that I'm just borrowing them. It doesn't make sense, but Frosted Flakes have been my savior in the past when my body gets mad at food. My stomach is rumbling, so I'm already regretting my decision to eat! Anyone have any learnings to share????

Unfortunately I haven't been through this but would recommend calling your doctor, and also consider getting some electrolytes if you can - BAI drinks are really good as is VitaminWater. Good luck and feel better!

Eat whatever you can handle. I had a bad stomach virus back in October. First day, nothing. Barely any liquids. Day two, similar start to yours, tea, water and broth. By mid-day I tried rice. Couldn't eat much, but it stayed down. Stuck to the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) for 2 more days. Do what you need to do to feel better.
