I would like to cut my carbs down to under 100. How ever I have so much stress and when I am stressed and emotional I can't control what I eat. I feel horrible about it but I can't control it. It's insane. Help. Any tricks or ideas

Something I have tried over the past couple days is what I call naming it. Actually naming the emotion I am feeling. Just saying I am stressed only scratches the surface. I try to take it further and name it like "I am stressed because I have a huge report due". I found over the past couple days if I dig a little deeper it helps.2

This 'naming it' is good for me. Being more transparent to myself helps. I have to work on letting go of a lot of tension in relationships that are demanding, if I don't, I can spiral into eating to compensate for not being able to work out problems. I also need to remind myself daily that I'm not ultimately responsible for other people, just myself, so I have to take personal responsibility for my own eating, as in what foods I eat, when and how much. Using food to avoid stress is still tempting me and there are times I get off track, but generally, because I've been working on this for over a year now, its becoming a lot easier to see it before I give in, or much earlier and take the steps to calm the stress without using food. Cold weather and insufficient heating is probably one of the most physically challenging triggers to overeating that I have right now. Mental and emotional triggers are always changing and a little harder to identify.1
