How Heavy is Heavy Lifting?

We get asked this question a lot. Just how Heavy, is "Heavy Lifting?" As we begin a new chapter in our life and start to pick up weights, we often think that heavy lifting should be so much heavier than we ever think we can lift, and for a lot of people, the mere thought of lifting something really heavy, is off putting.
Heavy lifting is relative is each and every person. What is heavy for you might be too heavy for me, or vice versa. The key is to pick up weights that YOU find heavy, and that fit your rep goals. What you can lift for 15 reps should be lighter than what you lift for 6 reps. It doesnt mean that its not heavy enough for you, but the weights have to suit your rep ranges as well.
And like everyone, we all have to start at ground zero. Picking up weights and getting started is the first step. Then over time, the weights you begin with, soon become your "warm up" weights. Keep plugging along and push yourself to lift heavy weights, for YOU.
