Metformin for longevity

I was wondering about people's thoughts on longevity? If you are on metformin, would you continue to take it even if your PP BG was normal?
I eat a ketogenic diet to keep PP BG normal. That's normal for a metabolically healthy person and not "diabetic normal" that many doctors seem to go with. I have been eating this way for 18+ months but I can't get my FBG low unless I stop eating for a day or so, or just luck.
I am actually starting to push for metformin with my doctor to gt my FBG lower, and just for the possible longevity benefits it provides. Is there anyone else out there who is taking metformin even though they may not really NEED it? What do you think of the longevity possibilities? Am I nuts to seek out another drug? (I take Thyroid meds and a steady but low dose of ibuprofen for arthritis)
