I go for a hearing test this morning
I thought I was having issues with my right ear bud, turns out, it might be my ear :hushed:

Also wanted to add about my food prep.....those freezer meals look like I don't eat veggies, lol, but I do! I am just a little picky so I just prewash and cut all my veg and cook fresh when I am ready to eat since they only take a few minutes!

Hi all - sorry for the quietness, it's been a busy few days.

Mum doing fine, friend doing better - she's out of her induced coma, but still not out of the woods at all.

Sorry to hear you've got the lurgy @HLaR79 ! And I'm so so jealous to hear you have snow and just lovely cold weather. We are coming to the end (hopefully!) of three 44/111 degree days in a row. Bleeuuughh.
  • @MissBecca145 we are getting another foot of snow today. I'll send you some!

    Food prep day!
Today I am making meatloaf for sandwiches and a creamy beef tomato soup for lunches. Chicken and eggplant parm for dinners. Blueberry lemon bread and applesauce oat bread for snacks. And my usual salads, veggies and boiled eggs/bacon.

Starting the next week off right. Prepared meals for the next week and have most of them separated into one serving bowls. Made steamed tilapia with veggies and quinoa for dinner. Mowed my lawn today and also went shopping before coming home to do my laundry and meal prep for the week. It is 7:30 right now and I am just now eating a full meal today. Had a muffin earlier about 11am and nothing else until now. I know you aren't supposed to earpt then sleep but I think that is what I am going to do, I'm exhausted

So the doctor confirmed i have a sinus infection starting some nasal spray and have some relief but not enough... I am still at work though because everyone here is sick... We need a community sick day for all staff and residents

Oh no @HLaR79 ! Sinus infections are the worst :s I am prone to them because of allergies and stuff. I can absolutely recommend a sinus irrigator/neti pot. It sounds a bit gross but flushing saline/water through your nasal passages really helps. I do it every morning.

Hopefully the spray gives you some relief! Feel better soon x

19 and thinks he is all grown up....and moving out in September.....is it too early to start a countdown?

Sorry you are sick! I second the netti pot.....I do one every night before bed!

Italian: im counting down until my kid is done her school year then she is moving out too, she will be just 18, but its time for her to move out.

Last week someone at my work noticed my weight loss, she asked me about it, and i am a terrible liar so i told her i was trying to get healthy, and that i had lost 45 lbs she was so excited she told other people, its weird for me because i was the fatest person here (now the second fatest) and i feel if i dont keep succeeding i will be judged. Then i had a super awkward conversation with my boss and another employee, both who are very fit, about all the changes we can make in our lives.... I went home and ate a bunch of chocolate. But today i remember this journey is about me, they only ask cause they care about me, and in a few weeks someone will do something to distract them from me and i can continue my next journey...

And as a little woohoo for me, it has been 5 years since my scale gave me a number in the 280's and i am so happy to see that number for the past few weeks i can finally believe it is real.

HLaR79: Great work. It is hard to be recognized and puts a little stress on. But good job handling it.

What you've done is amazing @HLaR79 ! I'm a bit the same, I'd rather people didn't know I was 'trying' to lose weight, something in my mind worries about the potential failure/embarrassment. Thus why I try keep (relatively) anonymous on here.

So I empathise. But as you said, this journey is only about you. And congratulations on entering the 280s. Heck I'd be stoked to be in the 380s at this point (not too far away, thankfully  )!
  • so proud of you @HLaR79!!! wtg! I am the same why, I would rather people not know either. I started doing to the gym about 5 weeks ago. and when my friend posted that she was there with me on facebook I was kind of angry just cuz I didn't want the world to know. However, I have gotten over that and decided there is nothing wrong with it. it took some getting used to!
Ive been eating awful this past week. today I need to be more motivated and stick to being under my calories.

I had s bit of a fail this weekend, however having such angood week hopefully balanced it out.
I found a problem in my house... We ordered pizza sunday, for 3 people so we ardered 3 pizzas and 2 orders of breadsticks... My husband eats a whole pizza and an order of breadsticks in a sitting... It takes me 2days to eat a pizza... Oh my goodness 2 slices fills me up, thats just crazy!! I of course followed it with way too much soda and no water.
This really messed up my day today... I missed breakfast, i have not missed breakfast in years because its so bad for diabetes, and now lunch isnt for another hour lol.
Well a lesson learned this weekend... Next time i will make a more concious choice.

HLaR79: Pizza is a challenge to resist, and we do the same order too much per person when ordering out. Good work on not over eating them. We have started making pita pizza's at home which helps get over the pizza cravings and more than enough for a meal. We take costco flat pita bread, add sauce of choice and toppings of choice, my favorites are ham, LOTS of pineapple, red peppers, some onions and cheese. Bake for about 10-12 minutes and then broil for 2.

This week was a gain which wasn't nice. I did go to the gym and do weights more than I ever have before, where I was at the gym for about 45-50 minutes and just doing weights for three times that week, and them some cardio at home 2 days: still up. I can blame valentine's chocolates though, had enough of those and other sweets from craft service. I need to beat the craft service temptations. Have been not logging consistently and that doesn't help. So far this week have been good at logging which helps the temptations to keep myself accountable. Still doing pretty good at working out this week. I hope to get 5 again this week of either gym or cardio at home (one day was walking the zoo for an hour and a half at a slow pace, but was 8000 steps so still counted it as a workout).

Good work everyone. Have a great week.

I still haven't beat the pizza monster. I could easily down a whole pizza 6 months ago. Like no problem at all.

We've had pizza twice since I've been on this journey and each time I've had 4 slices. I mean it's better than 8, and I always 'save' cals for them, but as I said, the pizza monster is a boss that's levelled way higher than me at the moment!

Ahh the pizza monster visited us this week too
I also saved calories for it yesterday. And went to the gym. And I also eat 4 slices. It's just so good ... why is pizza so good?!

    Cheese.
It's gotta be the cheese. I freakin' love cheese.

My Mum made special homemade bread today, and I got home late and had HORROR OF HORRORS, already had all my cals for the day. I walked away. But boy howdy I would have smashed that with some cheese *drool*

I got eyelash extensions today. I feel like I'm smuggling puppies on my face. They look pretty fab though. And natural (thank gawd).

ETA: BUT, I was lying flat on my back for over an hour and a half and as some of you may appreciate, at 400lbs + that was just agony on my lower back. My right hip was already giving me a little grief from yesterday, so now here I sit, an ice pack on my booty. Oy vey.

I love typing on my phone tablet in my other post i meant back lol. Awful fat finger typing.
Today was my second solo trip to the gym and it was good, i see that most people go alone, it was nice to set my own time limit and not feel rushed to get out. At least if i go myself i only have to count on myself to show up.

Im so glad it is only saturday and i dont have to work till monday!!

@Italian_Buju not sure which day it is, but it must be around here Happy birthday, i hope you really enjoyed your birthday week.

@MissBecca145 how is your mom? She was going to have surgery not long ago right? She must be getting around if she is making bread. Yum

@crochetkeepsmehappy pizza is good because pretty much anything with salty meat and hot cheese tastes good... Put chicken and arugula on it wont be so good, trust me i tried this week lol. At least you saved and planned for it.

@violet456 how was the gym this week? Did you make your goal?

Thanks, my birthday was Thursday! Went out for dinner with a friend and saw Get Out (it was good and VERY original).
Monday night my coworkers took me out for dinner at the restaurant where my son works, which is a swanky Italian place. It was really good.

However I have been celebrating all week and over eating and indulging in way too many sweets and zero gum time in a week :s . Back at it now though.

Now trying to decide what to give up for Lent....and as I write this I remember that this Wednesday is Ash Wednesday so I guess no point in making meatball soup for work cuz I won't be able to eat it two days.....pea soup it is, lol.

She's having surgery on Thursday! Your memory is fab. She's on hefty pain killers until then (thus getting around enough to make some bread hehe). So she gets pain at night, but is otherwise pretty good.

Thursday through to next week will be a different story. I'm on a deadline and I MUST finish it before then otherwise life is going to get a whole lot more difficult managing that AND her recovery. But we'll get there.

@Italian_Buju I hadn't even thought about Lent!!! If it were at all humanly possible to give up procrastinating I would in a heartbeat lol.

Glad to hear you've had a great birthday week! And I feel ya on the birthday celebration over indulgence. Not really looking forward to weigh in tomorrow (even after my random whooosh drop during the week!).

That should be zero gym time, not gum, lol.
  • Hey ladies! I have been so busy between work, school and making sure I get to the gym that I have been slacking on doing anything fun. :disappointed: my house is a disaster so I think that's adding to the stress too. This semester has so much more work than last semester. (I'm going back to school to hopefully move up at work in a different department) so I decided to take today off from work to clean my house. As silly as it sounds I'm hoping it helps with my stress. I haven't Crocheted in weeks either so I miss that as well :disappointed:

@Italian_Buju Happy Birthday!!! Birthdays only come around once a year so it's great to celebrate and not worry about the calories! You will get back at it!! Thanks for the reminder of lent!! I have no clue what I want to give up I usually do junk food. I will have to think about it today.

@MissBecca145 I hope your moms surgery goes well!! My mother in law broke her ankle in 3 spots a little over 2 years ago and she came to live with us for almost 2 years while she recovered etc. she's older and diabetic and took her longer to recuperate. However she still has pain in her ankle that she always will have I suppose.
I think what you are doing taking care of your mom is amazing!
    How is your friend doing?

@violet456 I hope you met your goal at the gym! Maybe u should give our points challenge a chance. It really is a motivator and helps keep u on track! At least it helps me that way. Yesterday I didn't want to go to the gym after work. I was tired. But I wanted that point so I went lol.

@HLaR79 I hope your kid is feeling better! I don't eat meat (only fish). Haven't for almost 18 years now. Started when I was 15. So the pizza downfall for me is cheeses lol. I just love cheese.
My gym membership allows me to bring a guest free. So my friend comes with me sometimes. I think I prefer to go by myself for the same reasons. U don't feel like u have a time limit or have to stay longer than u want. But then sometimes going with someone makes u go even when u don't feel like it. Both ways have cons and pros. Good for you for going by yourself! Very proud of you!!
When I started going to the gym in jan. I was nervous going by myself also. But you get yourself in a routine and realize other people are there for the same thing to get in shape.
