Hi there PCOS sisters. I'm reallllly frustrated and am wondering if anyone else has found themselves in a similar situation. I have been taking metformin for PCOS for about 10 years now. At first it worked like a charm, I lost weight, got pregnant twice and it seemed to manage my carb cravings. I have been playing around with different dosage (at my Dr's approval). I was up to 2,000 mg a day and just felt AWFUL so I've dropped down to 1,000 mg a day. I feel better in terms of side effects but my carb cravings/appetite is through the roof. Even when I'm careful about what I eat (low carb/paleo/clean eating) I'm still always hungry and/or craving carbs.

The only thing that ever seems to help me lose weight is really high intensity exercise like running. This past year I suffered an injury and I totally fell off the diet and exercise wagon and lost back all the weight I lost through hard work and now and I can't stop gaining weight. Every week I go up a pound. I have been trying so hard to watch my calorie intake and move more. It will take me about two week to lose a pound or two and then my cycle hits and I've gained three. Up and down and every month with water weight and then when I look at the long term progress report, my weight just keeps creeping higher. All of my clothes are tight, I look and feel terrible. I've had every test under the sun and everything has come back normal. I'm at my wit's end. Has anyone else had this happen? Help!

I feel your frustration. I wish I had an answer for you, but I simply don't. I believe there is a link to stress, but the doctors say they don't have any studies to base agreement on. How is your sugar intake?

@doverlyk well, when I'm 'eating clean' and watching my carbs, my sugar intake looks great. I really do think you are on to something about stress being a factor. I have A LOT of it in my life. thanks for responding :-)
