Water weight gone crazy?

Am I correct in assuming that peri causes crazy water weight fluctuations?
My weight loss has always been very cyclical and predictable, if not in a typical way. I've always tended to "gain" somewhat the first half of my cycle, then experience sort of a free fall until my lowest point, when TOM would start. My weight loss graph would look like an EKG, but by the time it all shook out, I was usually a little lower than the month before. Last week, I got on the scale to find a 4 lb increase from the week before. Not the normal time for a water weight shift for me, but I clearly did not gain 4 lbs in a week eating under maintenance. And now today, I'm up almost 2 more! (TOM due this week... you know, if that works out )
So is this going to be typical for a while? Or have I possibly developed that disorder where you eat in your sleep, because I have no explanation for 6 lbs to hang around for 2 weeks! Have your water weight fluctuations remained consistent?

I had a lot of water weight fluctuations last year, but I attributed it to a med I was on and chronic gallbladder disease (after that was discovered). I was fluctuating a lot less since then but now I'm back on an exercise program and I'm up 4 lbs or so and then down a few days later. So I'm thinking that it's probably true that we're a lot more susceptible to fluctuations though I can point to outside influences as the initial "cause."
I've had good results from drinking dandelion or hibiscus tea when I felt especially bloated. Right now I'm just not worrying about it much because I have obvious signs of getting smaller even with the weight fluctuations.1 -
It caused huge fluctuations for me!1

I don't feel particularly bloated... the scale just says it's there.
I'm used to seeing 2-3 lb fluctuations over the course of a few days, but I haven't seen a 6 lb one that lasted for 2 weeks before0 -

Oh man! My water fluctuations have gone crazy. 6#'s this past time. Normal for me was 2-3#'s. And the longer between my cycles the more water I gain. The only up side is when I do finally start, that massive water drop is good for the ego.1

It's not unusual for me to hold on to 6 lbs or so for a few weeks if I've just started working out. I'm back up a few pounds now after being low last week. I did a long hike with a lot of climbing this weekend, so I'm suspecting that. Could be TOM coming too. I've kind of been feeling like that's going to come on soon, but so far nothing.
I'm going to the gym this afternoon, so it's unlikely to get better soon. The hike showed me that I've made a lot of fitness gains though so I'm trying not to think about it.1 -

Heh. I've been extra good lately. After my last (?) period last fall, the scale shot up. I dragged it back down a bit. And then it shot up again. But, I've been *really* watching what I eat. I know exactly what has been going into my body.
Yesterday, I was almost back at my happy weight. I ate on plan. Totally.
And I knew that when I woke this morning the scale would be UP rather than DOWN based entirely on how my ring is fitting this morning.
Dang water weight!0 -
That's the one thing I hate about Monday morning exercise sessions. I know the next two days are going to be up water weight wise. I'm also very sensitive to salt fluctuations and I've had a ton of it the past few days. It's going to be an ugly week!!1
