I bought the test strips and I'm on day four. I tested myself and the strip is already showing up dark purple. Is that normal day four? I was under the impression it would take two weeks.
Thx in advance.

Some people enter ketosis faster than others... as long as you are getting purple, your body is producing ketones. Be thankful that you are a quick adapter!

Now, a word about the color - dark purple indicates a high concentration of ketones and especially when just beginning the process, this usually also indicates that you are mildly dehydrated - drink more water!

You can get into ketosis fairly quickly. You need to remain in ketosis several weeks to become fat adapted however.

I have to disagree with the advice to drink more water upon an assumption that the dark color indicates dehydration. I've been keto for almost 2 years and those things are dark purple 90% of the time for me and I'm perfectly well hydrated.
It COULD mean dehydration. But if you drink when thirsty and get plenty of sodium (3000-5000mg a day), there's no reason to drink more water just because it's dark.

    Fat adaptation takes weeks.
Entering ketosis can possibly just take hours.
