I've had horses my whole life, but I was not a brave rider when I was heavier. Now I can do this (yesterday, at riding club, my young horse's first outing)

Wow! Congratulations!! You've got guts. I don't know if I'd ever want to try that... Your young horse looks like a keeper!

She's a great horse. Jumping in a stock saddle is not easy0

She looks like an American Quarter Horse. What is she? I have a friend who, at the age of 63, is still barrel racing ( I suppose in her age group?) and WINNING! She says it's their horses but I know there is human skill involved.0

She is in fact a Standardbred. They race as either trotters or pacers (in a two wheel "bike" or cart). She trialled but was not fast enough and now has career as a saddle horse. They have gained popularity here over "gallopers" or thoroughbreds as the Standardbred has a calm reliable temperament and does not get "hot" like a thoroughbred - they are very trainable and can excel at all the disciplines. We are mostly trail riders though, with a bit of Riding Club for fun. She is much bigger than a quarter horse - standing at about 17hh. I am 5'10".

She's beautiful. I had a couple of Quarterhorses years ago. They were both grade but pretty. I liked riding bareback. Great thigh workout!0
