DIY magnesium body butter or oil

So I came across what seems to be an fairly simple recipe to make either an oil spray or body butter.
https://wellnessmama.com/8586/magnesium-body-butter/
Following the link provided in the recipe to buy magnesium chloride flakes,
http://www.enviromedica.com/ancient-minerals-magnesium-bath-flakes-ultra
I found they also offer a magnesium flake with MSM which is being discussed in another open thread.
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10515526/sulfur-deficiency-another-piece-of-the-malnutrition-puzzle#latest
The purchase site has this to say about the Ultra magnesium flakes.
"Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes Ultra is a next generation formula incorporating the unique synergistic benefits of MSM magnesium. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) has long been revered as a superior form of sulfur supplementation, but as a topical it may facilitate more efficient uptake of magnesium ions. Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes Ultra utilizes premium distilled OptiMSM®, the world's purity standard for MSM."
So even as just a bath soak, it sounds like a great magnesium and sulfur option but I like the idea of the spray or lotion for daily use. I haven't made it myself yet but I think I will be trying it as soon as I can.

Thanks for sharing, I'd like to make this for my husband
My MIL makes a magnesium spray and both she and my husband love it. I tried it and it burned me. So strange...1 -

There was mention of burning in this link somewhere but it said making the body butter would eliminate the burning.
Maybe that would help you too. Could always tinker with the mag concentration to find your tolerance.1 -
I've been told that the recipes to make mag oil and butters makes no sense from a science perspective, that you can't take something like flakes with waters to make an oil, but this recipe looks like it might be an improvement on the old ones. I'll have to research for sure.1

My bottle says to cut mag oil with a little olive oil if it is too strong. Jojoba oil would work too. The burning is a result of the cells of your skin opening to absorb the mag. Harmless but annoying. The burning is supposed to be a sign that you really really needed that magnesium. Or so they say.2 -

Oh dear. Good to know though!0 -
It would be interesting to add these to bath bombs when I make them. Gonna have to think on that.0
