Induction week 1 and a 2.5 pound Gain! Just great!

I need motivation....

Could it be that Atkins might not work for me? Is that even possible?

I haven't cheated, i drink enough fluid, I take the multivitamin supplement, I consume salt and my overall food ratio for the week was 7% Carb, 63% fat and 30% protein. My calorie intake is approx 1100-1200. I don't use sweeteners or atkins bars or low Carb alternatives and I only drink water. I only eat fresh home cooked food nothing processed. I weigh most food. Ketostix say I'm firmly in ketosis. I haven't lost inches.

I have never Not lost weight on a diet before so the gain is weird and really uninspiring!

Quite honestly want to give up and go it alone.

Stay with it don't give up you are worth it. I just started doing lower carb myself after regaining a couple of pounds. I think it might take some of us a little longer to get going especially when we change our diets dramatically.

It's water retention. Your body is entering and getting used to ketosis. I had the same thing happen to me, and it depressed the hell out of me. Toward the end of week two you'll notice some serious pounds coming off. Keep the faith, it will work!

Absolutely get in your exercise daily, without it Atkins will not work. At least 30 minutes! (I take Sundays off)

I was 271 lbs on June 6th, today I am 232, and thanks to Ketosis, I'll be at 222 by mid August. You can do this!
  • I'm at the end of week two and I actually picked up 1.5lbs but I did go over my carb count this weekend due to an engagement party. I'm still sticking with it though because I've lost 5lbs so far not including the 1.5lbs I put back on. I've also ordered the Aktins Essentials book and I'm hoping it will give me some more ideas on counting carbs.

I agree to stick with it because it does and can work if you follow it. My girlfriend at work lost 20lbs last year and has managed to keep it off for a year. She looks great. :) And so can you! :)
  • Thank you everybody! I have stuck with it... but I have to say it is very stressful! I weighed myself today and had dropped 1.5 pounds, but am still at a gain of a pound. I think you are right Eddie I need to pick up more exercise! I am going to go for a jog right now.

Well... I have seen it work for all of you so I am sure it must be able to work for me too! I just will keep my fingers crossed that my next weigh in is more successful! Thank you to you all, I really needed a boost.
