Hi,
I just downloaded the WW app and signed back up. I have been away for 3-4 years and have not been too disciplined with my eating. There have been some big changes in the plan and points so I am a bit confused. Some go-to foods from my previous WW plan are many more points now. In particular bars (granola, Cliff, etc) seem to be on the whole 5+ points. That used to be a staple of my "diet" but I'm not so sure now. I'm also concerned about coffee. Being a New Englander I like my Dunkin Donuts! I can't drink it without sugar and milk. I am not a fan of artificial sweeteners either. Everything else looks like I can manage somehow to adapt my food choices.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions on what would be a quick ready made snack for on the go? Any suggestions on how to sweeten my coffee as well?

thanks!

Welcome back! Yes the Smart Points (SP) program definitely charges a "Tax" on sugar and Sat Fats. I liked that' because I'm Type 2 diabetic and it helped me with my blood sugar.

As for snacks...do you consider fruits as snacks? Small packages of nuts? I try to limit snacking but at home I like Sugar Free Jell O pudding cup(2SP).

I had to learn to adjust my coffee, at home I use SF creamer. I quit the artificial sweeteners but still can't drink it black, I order my DD coffee with SF flavor or specify ONE cream. DD standard cream serving is FOUR! No wonder it taste so good LoL

I wasn't anticipating the crazy "tax" on those items.

I don't do much snacking but I like to grab a bar of some sort for breakfast or for an early afternoon pick me up.

The coffee is the killer. I can't do cream because I'm lactose intolerant so I normally do whole milk or almond milk. Skim is useless. The sweetener is what will be the issue. Maybe some sort of non-dairy creamer will do the trick......I need to scan some of those. I have a hard time with the SF options.......I feel jittery when I have those.

    Thanks

Thank God I'm a New Englander who loves real coffee. Strong, French roast, black no sugar.
That out of the way, welcome back to the Hotel GoaD, you can checkout any time you want, but you can neve leave.
SPs definately put the thumbs down on sugar. Tasty 4 PP ice creams became about 7 SPs.
Jim is right about fruit, sweet apples satisfy the "tooth" both ways (sweet and crunch).
Some of the ladies in my meeting say almond milk has an innate sweetness in their coffees.
While you're at it, check out the lowered SPs for chicken and lean pork. That'll satisfy your hunger pangs.
Good luck, and, again, welcome back.

We get more dailies in general. I would use those and use more APs too. I only eat dense stuff like Clif bars for bike rides of over 35 miles not for breakfst or snack. Hey that's just me.

Not sure if you're a fan of tuna but the flavored ones have been a great snack for me, esp. the ranch. Many are 1 SP per pouch and the protien really keeps me full.

Welcome back, and btw, was your WW name the same as your MFP name? I don't remember it if it was, but that was a long time ago. And just curious, how did you find GoaD on MFP?

Welcome back @nerevfan ! I can't help you on the coffee (never did like cream and sugar in it), but for snacks, I lean toward good protein-y foods: lean deli meats, shrimp, bit o' yogurt, cheese sticks, etc. I like (love) cashews and they pack a good protein punch, but they can be my downfall as well since it's easy to OD on them if I let myself. Obviously fruits and veggies are fully in-play as well.

In general my observation has been that a lot of folks who at a lot of sugary, fatty, carby stuff on PP really hated SP when they first started. However, many of them seemed to be stuck not losing weight and then a after a couple weeks on SP, were back to losing. No guarantees, but if the shoe fits, you might benefit from wearing it...

Stick around here; good support and lots of well-seasoned advice to be had. Plus, I'm sure we can all learn from your experience too.
