"I always loved running...it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs."
Jesse Owens

"Success is not measured by what you accomplish but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds."
Orison Swett Marden

15 miles starting Sunday and ending Saturday... Yep that easy and you know you can do it! Just log your daily miles, the total miles for the week and encourage your fellow challengers to make their goals, yep it's that easy.

"Run when you can. Walk when you must. Crawl if you have to. Just never give up." Dean Karnazes, the Ultramarathon Man

For the folks returning you know that the 15 miles is not the main goal. The main goal is just to get up and get moving, if you don't meet it that's fine and you surpass it, well that just freaking rocks.

For new comers the preferred method of posting miles would be:

Sunday-miles-what you did Monday-miles-what you did Tuesday-miles-what you did So on and so forth, posted daily or when the miles occur...

Total- Running total for the week thus far

As always this is not set in stone, if you post every other day or whatever fits into your schedule, but please try to stay close to the above format.

For those folks that don't do miles

for conversion to be made easy (Thanks Nonafit)

Now let's get moving folks :)

"Success isn't how far you got, but the distance you traveled from where you started."
Steve Prefontaine

    Reesey and Melkadee!

Thanks for being the badazzes that you are!

I'm sorry I haven't been participating - by now that my ankle is better, I'm allowed to do some run/walk intervals.

Having a bad ankle is NOT a good excuse for not cheering everyone else on, though, so I just wanted to commend you for your efforts this past week!

I had my appointment yesterday with the bone and joint doc.

Bone Bruise was the diagnosis. Never heard of it but after xrays (which were "perfect") and talking with the doc...

I said, "It hurts here" (pressing on an area between the bones of my left knee).

He said, "What about here?" (pressing on the bone to the right of my left kneecap)

I said, "OWWWW. That's it. That's the spot".

I like the guy and am confident in his diagnosis. Not just that he is a bone and joint guy but also the orthopedic surgeon for a large local university sports team. He said he could do an MRI but felt I need notspend the money at this time. I asked him about a knee brace and he indicated it basically would not help in the healing. Time...He said bone bruises usually take a long time to heal. No walking for a while and when I decide to start a walking routine again to walk only every other day. He said pool exercise should be good but to stop if it seemed to aggravate it. Otherwise, elevation, ice, ibuprofen and TIME. He basically said it would not be healed in 6 weeks but if it was not improving I should schedule an appointment and he would do an MRI.

So that's it. Bone Bruise. No walking for me for a while but y'all keep up the great work!!! I'll be back!
