Hello,
I am a father of 3 and stress has me going up and down in weight. Nothing crazy but 15 pounds fat makes a huge difference in how I feel. I am big into lifting weights when I don't mess my back up. I need to get back down 15 pounds but starving myself at 1200 calories is misserable. I hope to find out here how to fix my diet so I am not starving but still loosing the fat. It's a hard mental thing to get over.

A word of advice I've lived by: if you want to weigh xxx, eat as if you already are xxx. If xxx is smaller than you are now, by eating at that level you will gradually grow smaller until you reach your goal weight; if larger, the same applies. The important factor is once you get to your goal weight you don't need to change a thing about your eating pattern, because you're already eating at maintenance level for that new weight. This idea of dropping to 500 calories per day and starving yourself to make weight is ludicrous to me, outside of a doctor saying to do it. This way will take longer to get there, but it'll be sustainable for the rest of your life, plus a whole lot less miserable along the way.3

Have you entered your stats into the MFP calculator? I think it'd give you more than 1200 - with 15lbs to lose, you shouldn't have too big of a deficit.
If you keep your deficit small and lift using a linear progression program such as Stronglifts or Starting Strength, you will retain what muscle mass you have and lose fat.
