Krista, and I am an EM2WL quitter.
(waits for the unison 'hi Krista')

(I'm copying my OP from a quiet page, I'm looking for a kick in the pants!)
It's long, I know, I'm sorry...

.. haha
So, my story... I researched, and scared the crap out of myself for a good, long while before taking the plunge and upping my calories. I finally did and got myself up to 1800 calories. I ate there for a while - it really is the best feeling ever - but my weight really didn't change much. My inches went down by a whole bunch though.

THEN..

I was in my TKD class (which is normally 75 minutes of crazy workout - 3 times a week, but for summer it's down to twice), and I broke my toe.. and I mean, really broke it. The big guy (who the hell breaks a bone off their big toe?! Me, and I earned the name Twinkle Toes!! haha) .. so I had to take time off of my activity as I could barely walk. Now this was in April. I was resting well, and then I had a plan that in May, I was going to try to get back to the class, I really missed moving!

I had dropped my calories from 1800 to somewhere around 1350, because I really wasn't moving.. I hated it but the scale was moving so I wasn't going to complain about that!

May 6th I woke up with what I thought was the stomach flu. It lasted 3 weeks, and it turns out it was salmonella poisoning... 3 weeks of being deathly ill, severely dehydrated, and then I had painful welts pop out (it went systemic and my body took a reaction) .. really thought I was going to kick the bucket... After being diagnosed with Erythema Nodosum, and being sick and tired of being sick and tired, I just started eating normally (wasn't coming back up.. just... the other way - sorry).. and drinking a ton, and living in the bathroom, I started to come back to life...

Fast forward.. I know I should be eating more, but I've been busy so I haven't been exercising nearly as much. I'm at 1490 calories per day, and logging and eating almost all of my exercise calories (so on exercise days, I'm up to 1800-1900 calories per day)..

I want to up my cals again, but I'm concerned I'm changing things too much. In 3 months, I've done 4 different calorie adjustments. It's been about 6 weeks since I've last adjusted though..

So, after all of this, I am looking for opinions!
Should I just start now (or tomorrow) with the upped calories, or wait?

And, do these numbers look right?

5'3.5, 162lbs looking to lose 27 more lbs

BMR - 1520
TDEE - 2090
-15% - 1776

I'm set to 1-3 hours of light activity, on the Scooby's Workshop website.
My days look like this: Up, ready and off to work for 9am, home at 5pm, 2-3 days of the week, I take my son to his TKD class, and sit around there until 6:30, then home, have supper, clean up, do Stronglifts 5x5 (this is something I'm JUST introducing, and I'm lifting very light weights - 10lbs of weight on the bar right now)

Tuesdays and Thursdays, I take my 75 minute TKD class, and then I try to get out for an hour walk at least once on the weekend.

it's just over 7 months until I go on a cruise, and I want to lose as much as possible (fat or inches) ..

Alrighty, lay it on me! Thanks!!

Well, it certainly sounds like you were on the right track before you were de-railed with your health issues... Glad you are getting back to feeling good!

As long as your health allows, I would consider doing a re-set at this point - just to kick-start your metabolism and get it back up and running after that long illness. I would gradually work your way up to TDEE and stay there for about 8 weeks, and *then* start your moderate 15% cut. I would imagine your metabolism is pretty messed up and confused after that illness, and it sounds to me like it could benefit from a reset to "re-train" it where it should be.

Keep up the weight training - that is what has helped me the most, both for firming up and shrinking down the entire body. It is so empowering!

    Welcome back!
