I've been reading and researching and I'm now ready to start this. Now it all seems pretty over whelming. Please give me some pointers for a beginner.

Welcome aboard!
If you haven't already, check out the info in the Launch Pad:

I think the two best pieces of advice for someone starting out are a) don't worry too much about calories at first, focus on your carb (or net carb) goal.
And b) make sure you're getting enough sodium. So-called 'keto-flu' is mainly due to low sodium, and you can avoid it completely by getting enough salt/sodium in your diet. 3000 to 5000 mg is the amount I see mentioned most often here. See this sticky for more info:

Be honest in your logging.
Don't expect the probable great weight loss in the beginning to continue weekly.
If you falter, get back on track.
Don't quit.6 -
Keep asking clear questions whenever you're stumped.3

I strongly second not worrying about calories in the beginning. Focus in your carb limit whatever it is, and focus on not going over.2

Ditto what they said. More sodium, log, ask questions... all good.
I recommend not eating too differently. That makes it harder. Have that steak and salad but skip the potato. Eggs and bacon for breakfast. Leftovers for lunch. Avoid low carb substitute foods like low carb breads. They aren't as good, and they aren't as nutritious as skipping it and adding other whole foods would be.
And welcome to the group.9 -
Focus on eating real food. Don't get sucked into the low carb junk food like Atkins bars. Dr Atkins would have been ashamed of the garbage that now has his name on it7

Thank you all so much. Two egg omlet with bacon and cheese cooked in Kerry gold butter is what's for breakfast.2

Beautiful beginning!
And don't forget!! SALT SALT SALT! A good quality salt is best, like pink Himalayan or my favorite, RealSalt. Lots of minerals.
Welcome and good luck!!!2
